Abbie Baker
Abbie was homeschooled K-12. After graduating high school, Abbie got her Associates in Art at Wake Technical Community College. She then transferred to Campbell University where she earned a B.S. in Biology and a teaching license. After college, she taught Academic and Honors Biology at a local high school. Once she started a family, she switched to a part time position at Sola Gratia Classical Academy, where she taught high school Chemistry and provided private tutoring.
In college, Abbie loved diving into the mechanics of life in classes like biochemistry, genetics, and organic chemistry. This experience sparked a desire in her to make these difficult concepts fun, interesting, and applicable in her own teaching. She wants to equip students to ask the right questions and appreciate the intricacy and beauty of the world around them. And she loves to build real relationships with her students while doing this.
Abbie is married and they have a one-year old son. In her free time she loves to read anything from fairy tales to classics. Some of her favorites are The Lord of the Rings, Anne of Green Gables, Ranger's Apprentice, and Les Mis. She is also knee deep in editing her own fantasy novel. When not reading or writing, Abbie loves to paint, cook, bake bread, and spend time with her family.
