Peter Olszewski
Peter Olszewski received his BS and MS degrees in Mathematics with minor concentrations on Mathematics Education and Finance from Fairfield University in 2008 and 2010, While he started teaching at the high school level through student teaching and long-term substitute teaching, he also had opportunities to teach at the community college and at a technical college, which then helped him land a position at a four year university where he has been since obtaining his master's degree. Peter teaches a wide range of university mathematics courses ranging from College Algebra through the Calculus sequence, Linear Algebra, Ordinary Differential Equations, Discrete Mathematics, and Statistics. He makes sure to bring in as many application problems into his daily lectures as possible so students can see how mathematics can be used in real-life situations.
Peter encourages students to actively participate during class by asking students to offer suggestions on solutions to problems. He is well versed in several mathematical homework software problems to help students practice concepts before exams including MyMathLab, WebAssign, and Knewton. He has used Moodle, Canvas, and Blackboard as his learning management systems (LMS) to create announcements for grade tracking.
Outside of teaching, he enjoys playing golf, guitar, bass, painting, and spending time with family.
