Ryan Miller

Physics

Dr. Ryan Miller is a dedicated Physics Faculty at Arlington Tech, a public high school in Arlington, VA, where he teaches various levels of physics courses, including dual enrollment College Physics I & II. With over a decade of teaching experience at high schools, colleges, and universities, he has previously served as an Assistant Professor

of Physics at Utica University and taught at institutions such as the University of Arkansas, New Mexico State University, Northern Virginia Community College and Virginia Commonwealth University. His expertise spans physics, astronomy, and computational science, and he has developed and instructed both in-person and online

courses using platforms like Canvas, Moodle, and Blackboard.

In addition to his teaching, Dr. Miller is an educator-researcher at NASA’s CCRI Program, where he collaborates with scientists to integrate Earth and space science research into education, designing lesson plans that incorporate real-world NASA data and research applications. He is also deeply involved in mentoring students in research projects and

science competitions, helping to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.

Dr. Ryan Miller holds a Ph.D. in Physics (Astrophysics) from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, where his research focused on the structure and dynamics of disk galaxies and provided strong evidence supporting the Density-Wave Theory of Spiral Structure. He also earned a M.Sc. in Computational Physics from the same institution, specializing

in material physics and computational modeling. His academic journey began with a B.Sc. in Particle Physics, where he gained a strong foundation in theoretical and experimental physics.

Beyond his academic achievements, Dr. Miller has extensive experience in both education and research. He has taught at various institutions instructing courses in physics, astronomy, and computational science. His work as an educator-researcher at NASA’s CCRI Program allows him to bridge scientific research and education, integrating NASA’s cutting-edge Earth and space science data into high school and college-level curricula. His passion for education extends to mentoring students in

science fairs, research projects, and competitions, helping them develop the skills needed for success in STEM fields.
